Let the decorating begin!

Welcome to Old House New House!  We are Carmen and Mellissa, two sisters with two very different houses and all the challenges that come with them.
Mellissa's house:  a 1428 sq ft 2 story 3 bedroom home built in 1930.  It was recently rewired, replumbed and had a new heating system installed.  They have been very busy doing the important things, but now it's time for the some fun stuff, making it fresh and new again! The challenges:  lack of storage, old outdated kitchen, plaster walls and hardwood floors that may or may not be salvageable!
Carmen's house: a 1498 sq ft bungalow built 2010, everything is new but it lacks personality.  The challenge: creating charm and charactor in a home that has none.  It's a blank canvas, were to start?
Everything is new so the changes must be cosmetic, tearing out cabinets and counter tops is not an option.
We have our work cut out for us. We are on budgets, but we love antiques and vintage finds, we also love creating our own "masterpieces"  from unexpected things when our wallets dictates that we do so.
We hope you enjoy Old House New House.  We would love to hear your ideas, opinions and personal experiences from your own home decorating projects as we transform our homes one room at a time.  We will share our ideas, shopping trips and crafty DIY projects with you,
Join us as we take our houses from a place to live to a place we love to call home!  It really is a tale of two houses.
